Our Year 11 students were lucky enough to hear from World Record Breaking amputee and brilliant motivational speaker Andy Grant.

Andy’s story is jaw dropping. In fact you’d be hard pushed to make it up. His life changed dramatically after stepping on an IED in Iraq.  A few years later he took the decision to have his leg amputated in order to be able to walk again. Ironically, this decision not only let him walk again but run and take part in sport again. That wasn’t enough for Andy, he then went on to become the fastest amputee to run 10,000m, staring in the ITV show “Paragon”. Our students sat rapt in amazement in the assembly hall as Andy told his story. They were all left with the knowledge that with confidence and belief that they can achieve their goals in the future – whatever those goals are!
