KS3 curriculum design supports the exploration of the following 9 key concepts:
KC1: Artists make marks, drawing our attention
KC2: Art communicates in every sense
KC3: Art has its own vocabulary
KC4: Artist’s use (and abuse) traditions
KC5: Artists play with ideas, media and failure
KC6: Art engages hands, head and heart
KC7: Art is not fixed in meaning, context is everything
KC8: Art has value, in unequal measures
KC9: Art makes people powerful, for good and bad
Term 1: MYSELF
Creatives explore and celebrate identity, because there is no greater relationship than the one we have through knowing ourselves. Students explore who they are as individuals in year 7, what their core values are within peer groups in year 8 and express their political voice through choosing their own global issues in year 9.
Term 2: MY WORLD
Creatives celebrate culture through the lens of Liverpool in Year 7, Europe in Year 8 and global art and craft in Year 9.
Term 3: MY FUTURE
Creatives prepare for their bright futures through healthy food choices in Year 7, mental and emotional health themes in Year 8 and finally, creative entrepreneurship and finance in Year 9.
