Demand for both health and social care is liable to continue to rise due to the ageing population, so it is undisputable that it plays a key role in UK society. The demand for people to fill these vital careers will therefore continue to increase.  

 

Our Cambridge National in Health and Social Care will encourage students to: understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of the rights of individuals, person centred values, effective communication and how to protect individuals in health and social care settings.  

 

Develop learning and practical skills that can be applied to real-life contexts and work situations; think creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically, and critically; develop independence and confidence in using skills that would be relevant to the health and social care sector and more widely.   

 

In the Year 10 health and social learning journey students will focus two units, R033 Supporting Individuals through Life Events where students will learn about growth and development through the life stages. Students will also learn how to understand the needs of individuals who have been affected by life events and how to recommend support to meet their needs.  

 

At the end of the academic year students will start R035 Health Promotion Campaigns and continue into year 11 where they will research health promotion campaigns and learn about their benefits to society. Students will also have the opportunity to plan and deliver their own health promotion campaign.
