The Academy of St Francis of Assisi is a family, guided by Christian love and following in the footsteps of Christ. Our school is a joint faith academy (Catholic and Church of England), although it welcomes students from a range of faiths. It is truly a unique place with a wonderfully diverse community. It is inclusive, and warmly welcomes children of all abilities, cultures, and backgrounds. ย

In our collective worship and assemblies this month we are celebrating the start of Advent. This weekโs theme is the light of Advent. Almighty God, as we prepare for the coming of Your Son, help us to see the light of His love. May we walk in His light, and reflect His presence to others, as we await the fulfilment of His promise. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

We have been lucky to work with LJMU with Mrs Gamble and members of our Roma community. The session this week was remembering those who died in the Holocaust, including the Roma. Previous sessions have focused on celebrating the diversity of our students. ๐๐ท๐ด

๐ This week is Anti-Bullying Week and we are doing a lot with our young people about respect, kindness and celebrating our differences. On Tuesday 12 November we are taking part in odd socks ๐งฆ๐งฆday. Our staff and students will be taking part in this to raise awareness about diversity. On Friday we have a cake sale and will be fundraising for Children In Need as well. Bring some loose change ๐ช๐ช to support all our events. #antibullyingweek2024 #oddsockday2024 #respect

THROWBACK THURSDAY. We had a fantastic time a couple of weeks ago celebrating the life of St Francis of Assisi with our brilliant Y7 students. In honour of him and his love of animals and nature they got to meet some wonderful creatures. Joy and terror in equal measure! ๐ฃWorld Mental Health Day, 2024 ๐ฃ We have had activities in class about the importance of our mental health and what makes us happy. Our students and staff have had lots of fun talking about their mental health (and dressing up too!). And our staff took time out to meet up for โtea and talkโ plus our very own bake off. On World Mental Health Day, letโs all come together to talk about mental health and show everyone that mental health matters. Talking about our mental health can help us cope better with lifeโs ups and downs. So, on World Mental Health Day and beyond it, why not check in with your friends, family, peers, or colleagues?
World Mental Health Day is celebrated every year on 10 October. This yearโs theme set by the World Federation of Mental Health is workplace mental health. The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities. What a lovely night welcoming prospective Y6 students and families to our academy. Our choir serenaded beautifully on the corridors. Our talented pianists entertained throughout the night. Our catering team put on great food. The art department had young people step into real paintings. Our science team set off a few explosions! There was even an industrial factory in the history department. As always, we are so blessed that our staff and students are such wonderful ambassadors. ๐๐๐ผ#theassisifamily
