Dear Parent/Carer,

CHANGE TO END OF TERM 2021 AND BEGINNING OF TERM 2022

End of term changes

It is that very busy time of year in schools. This year, I have had to make some difficult decisions. With the growth of the cases of the new variant, Omicron, I have decided to cancel our whole school service. This would have been on Tuesday morning. Instead of asking students and staff to come into school to sit in form groups on the Tuesday, I have decided to close on Monday at the end of the school day and to make the time up for Tuesday at a later date. I hope that you understand the reasoning behind this. So many of you have been in touch to explain about your concerns surrounding Christmas plans and the hopes for a different Christmas to last year.

Changes to the beginning of term January 2022.

On another Covid note, we are being asked to do tests before the students return. Given the numbers who have given consent, we will have to use 2 days to do this safely. This means a delay to the return to school for all students.

• Students in Year 7 and 11 ONLY will return to school on Thursday 6th January. Testing will take place for those who have given consent in the morning.

• All students will return to school on Friday 7th January. Testing will take place for those who have given consent in the morning in years 8, 9 and 10.

Please continue to test for Covid in your households. The new tests are easier than ever to do and can make a real difference. We will send all students home with tests for the Christmas period. Whilst we appreciate the disruption that the staggered start causes, our aim remains to return as safely as possible to school after Christmas.

Our Trust newsletter will be making its way to you shortly. The newsletter celebrates some of the opportunities that our students are benefitting from in our Academy’s across the Trust. The newsletter will also give you some more information about the work of the Trust and our history, which is what our vision and values are built upon. I look forward to sharing our newsletters with you each term.

May I thank you for your continuous support through what have been difficult times and I wish you all a peaceful and restful Christmas break.

Kind regards,

Miss H Duggan
