You will be assessed by

KS3 (Yr7&8) – Three AQA style KS3 assessments throughout the year (Beginning, Middle and End).

Summative assessments within each unit of work.

KS4 (Yr9-11) Building on the assessment information for Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 students will undertake a series of mock exams throughout their GCSE. This will enable students’ progress to be monitored closely.


Key Stage 3: A range Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar home works as well as research opportunities and topic booklets.

Key Stage 4: Students will be given a range of revision activities, ‘How to…’ booklets and other tasks and activities aimed at strengthening their skills to prepare for GCSE.

Extra-curricular opportunities

Reader in residence (Poets and authors invited into the academy to inspire young people to read and write).
Theatre visits of texts or plays being studied

Creative Writing Classes
Book club

Extra teaching opportunities

Booster sessions on Mondays and Fridays between 3pm and 4pm
Half-Term and Easter Holiday Booster sessions
Walking, Talking Mocks – these enable students to understand exactly what is expected of them in the real exam.

Return to school 30th October

Half Term is: Friday 20th October until Sunday 29th October.

The academy will reopen on Monday 30th October at 07:50am.

Unless it is called off at the last minute, there will be an Arriva bus strike on Monday 30th October.

No Arriva buses will be running.

Please make arrangements so that your child arrives to school by 08:40am.
