The Academy of St Francis of Assisi received a prestigious award today, March 29th 2016. ‘The Church & School Partnership Award’ was awarded by Bishop Richard of Warrington during a special assembly.
Head of School Mrs Greenough welcomed Bishop Richard, local ministers, Phil Saltmarsh and Pastor Johnson Abimbola, David Thorpe (Senior Diocesan Schools Adviser), school governor’s Lady Erica Hedley and Raymond Bissex.
Year seven led the assembly with a fantastic performance of our Academy song based on the prayer of St Francis. Our Student leadership team shared some of the highlights of the Academies co-working within our community & Churches this year and a cluster of candles were lit by our guests to symbolise the unity of School & churches as prayers were read by Mrs. Greenough and Phil Johnson (Academy Chaplain).
This was followed by an amazing performance by one of our most talented students Alzbeta Olahova and the Academy received ‘The School & Church Partnership Award’ from Bishop Richard who congratulated the Academy on its practical demonstration of love & charity.
The award recognises the Academy as an integral part of community spirit in the Kensington area, working alongside Churches of all denominations. Working in partnership produces effective and united results such as charity projects and support for specific needs in our community. The Academy of St Francis of Assisi, All Saints Anglican Church, St Michaels Catholic Church and Alive Believers are bringing a diverse community together to celebrate and enjoy each other’s cultural diversity and common faith.
